The cost of mental health services has long been a barrier of entry for many Australians.
With one in five Australians experiencing mental health issues in any given year, Chief executive of Mental Health Foundation Australia Vasan Srinivasan says that the challenge of finding affordable mental health support ‘weighs heavily on many of our hearts’.
“We understand the concerns and challenges that come with seeking professional help while managing financial constraints. It’s a reality that no one should have to face alone.”
With the average fee for a 50-minute session ranging from $100 – $160, the Mental Health Wellness Hub Psychology Clinic offers an affordable, and potentially life-saving solution.
“At our Wellness Hub, we offer counselling sessions at an affordable rate of just $20 for a 50-minute session. These sessions are available both in-clinic in South Yarra and through telehealth, ensuring accessibility for all,” Ms Srinivasan said.
For those unable to afford the $20 fee, however, Ms Srinivasan noted that the Wellness Hub sessions could still be accessed through generous donations from the wider community.
“Some clients experience significant financial constraints, making it challenging for them to afford even a $20 counselling session. Often, this is because their mental health concerns hinder their ability to work.
“By donating just $20, you can help support a vulnerable individual in accessing a counselling session free of charge. With $120, you can provide them with the opportunity to attend six sessions, enabling them to make significant strides in their mental health journey.”
