A HIGH-SPEED intersection in the Macedon Ranges will soon be safer, with works underway to improve the corner of Lancefield-Tooborac Road and Burke and Wills Track, at Lancefield.

Member for Macedon Mary-Anne Thomas said the intersection would be made safer and easier for drivers to navigate following a $194,000 upgrade.

Safety improvements include widening the corner, installing a splitter island, refreshing line marking and adding new lighting, rumble strips and signage.

Further along Lancefield-Tooborac Road, the right turn lane into Pyalong Road will also be made clearer.

The works are funded through the State Government’s $25 million commitment to deliver one of the biggest intersection overhaul programs ever in regional Victoria, part of the $1.4 billion investment into reducing road trauma across the state.

Traffic management will be in place until works are complete in early November, including reduced speeds of 40km/h for the safety of the community and roadworkers.

Member for Macedon Mary-Anne Thomas said the safety upgrades were vital, to try and prevent people being injured or dying in high-speed road crashes.

“We’re committed to improving the road network right here in Lancefield and across the Macedon Ranges, with these works making this intersection safer and easier to navigate for all drivers,” she said.

  1. What about the right hand turn into Burke and Wills off Lancefield Tooborac Rd when heading towards Lancefield? Is that going to happen too?
