Golfer of the week
Beau Farrell (18) had several months away from the game, and after only a couple of weeks of grinding on the range and practicing after work, he had a 44 pointer less than a fortnight ago! Shooting 80 off the stick, lipping out on 18, he scored his best score ever which included two birdies. Unfortunately, his round made my 36 points look hopeless. Â
Hole in one!

Congratulations to Glenn Adams, a good mate of mine who celebrated his second hole in one over the weekend. He had it at Goonawarra Golf Club on the seventh hole which makes it his second hole out in just 10 months from the tee box. Unbelievable stuff!
Over to the clubs
BROADFORD has calmed down after a busy couple of months, having a couple of quiet Stableford competitions. Ken Lappin (23) was best on the day last Saturday thanks to 35 pointer, beating Mary Campbell (19) who also has 35. Recent photos of the course have looked unbelievable as the greens ripen up with the spring weather.
At LANCEFIELD, it has been a busy couple of weeks as the Club Championships have kicked off. Close to a fortnight ago, Luke Schachner (24) had a dominant week, winning the competition on Tuesday, then backing it up in the second round of the Club Champs having a nett 67 to be the best nett golfer of the day. In the third round, David Colson (33) was best on with a nett 71. After three rounds it had all come down to the last couple of holes. The eventual winner of the Lancefield Club Championships was Todd Lambert with a 77, 75 and 88 leaving him with the best gross score. Glen Holland was the B grade winner while Malcolm Ive was consistently good to win the Blomberg Trophy and the C grade. Well played to those three!
HIDDEN VALLEY has had some crazy scores over the last couple of weeks. Tim Baker (7) was good enough to drop a 40 bomb on Wednesday the October 21. The round included -1 on the front and although he had a pickup on the famous 13th hole, he still managed 17 points on the back for 40. James Davie (50) also had quite the round on the following Saturday in the par competition, having +8 in par, meaning he’s dominated the points. I think his handicap will be coming down a lot! Without competition on Saturday due to the rain, it made Sunday’s even more important. Enzo Lanni (12) won the stableford comp with 38 points beating three players who finished on 37.
The KILMORE ladies had a great day on Friday, making the trip out to Lancefield for the Mt William Cup. Winning the day by just one point, the win makes history for the for both Kilmore and Lancefield as Jill Banon was one of the original purchasers of the cup for the Lancefield Golf Club’s inaugural Bowl. Her daughter Sophie Banon was on the winning team with Helen Dennett and Diane Dixon.

ROMSEY changed things up in its twilight competition last week, as it played the back nine, but used the front nine court ratings. Matt Lane (21) was recently crowned as their monthly medal winner, thanks to a nett 71. He beat Malcolm Mottram (9) in a countback and Michael Squire (5) also had a solid round, finishing third with a nett 73. Simon Donovan made a little bit of history as well, being named the winner of the John Laing Shield which is a matchplay competition.
