AN open invitation to shape the City of Whittlesea community has been sent out, with residents invited to make a call on services, projects and facilities ahead of the 2027-28 Budget and Community Action Plan being laid out.

Council says the feedback is crucial to help shape the ideas that the community wants, including identification of local priorities and shaping formal community submissions before deciding key planning and budgetary suggestions. The feedback gathered will then shape Council’s plans.

There are many ways people can participate – including online, in person at pop-up community sessions, formal submissions and attendance of an information session which helps people prepare submissions.

Council officers and councillors will be attending a series of community-based pop-up sessions across the municipality, providing residents with an opportunity to share their priorities face-to-face. This is designed so that participants can make easier suggestions, while also making it more accessible for those who aren’t keen to do so online.

Community members who have a specific idea, proposal or opportunity they would like Council to consider are encouraged to make a formal submission.

Formal submissions are being sought early in the planning process so ideas can be considered alongside community priorities, available funding, service needs and long-term planning requirements.

Community members who make a submission may also get the opportunity to speak to their submission at October’s Community Submissions Session.

The Community Priorities engagement is open until September 27. Feedback will shape the development of the 2027-28 Budget and Community Action Plan, while other important Council plans and projects will also be shaped by resident feedback.
