Telstra’s upgrade of the Seymour Hill mobile base station will bring temporary disruptions.
The telecommunications provider began work on Monday, upgrading its mobile base station in Seymour Hill to provide improved 4G capacity and new 5G coverage—joining more than 4900 Telstra 5G sites on-air within selected areas of more than 400 cities and towns across Australia.
The works will see limited coverage in the area, and as a result, residents are advised to activate WIFI calling if they have access to a WIFI signal at home or at work.
A full site shutdown will occur between October 14 and October 16. Weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting, the works should be completed by October 23.
Landline services, NBN internet services, and mobile coverage from other providers will not be impacted.
Any calls to Triple Zero from a Telstra mobile when the site is off air will automatically be diverted to any working mobile network for connection to emergency services.
