A team of 12 Broadford firefighters has raised $12,411 at the Melbourne Firefighter Stairclimb, finishing eighth in fundraising and fifth in the overall team climb.

On September 12, the firefighters climbed 28 floors while wearing 25 kilograms of turnout gear.

The funds will support the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation, the 000 Foundation and Lifeline.

The team thanked its sponsors for helping make the achievement possible, with special recognition for gold sponsors Southern Cross Gold Consolidated, Tier One Drilling & Exploration, Mud Logic Fluid Solutions and Pybar Mining Services.

The sponsors’ contributions helped the team reach its fundraising goal and reflected the community support behind Broadford’s first responders.
