WOMEN from across the Whittlesea community gathered at the Whittlesea Bowls Club last Wednesday for a special Women’s Health Week event focused on information, advice and connection.
Hosted by the Whittlesea VIEW Club, the event brought together local women for a morning of presentations from health professionals covering a range of issues affecting women’s health and wellbeing.
Speakers addressed important topics including bone health, dental care, physiotherapy and remedial therapies, giving attendees the opportunity to learn more about maintaining their health and the services available locally.
A free blood pressure check was also available, allowing women to take advantage of a simple health check while attending the event.
VIEW Club president Julie Burgess said she was extremely pleased with both the attendance and the quality of the speakers.
“It was wonderful to see such a great turnout of women supporting the event,” Ms Burgess said.
“We were particularly pleased with the quality of our speakers and the information they were able to provide. They covered a range of important health issues and gave everyone plenty to think about.”
Ms Burgess said the event was about more than simply providing health information.
“It was also about bringing women together, encouraging them to look after themselves and making sure they know what services and professional support are available within our local community,” she said.
The event featured contributions from health professionals including a Whittlesea physiotherapist, a GP from Whittlesea Medical Clinic, Whittlesea Family Dental, Whittlesea Foot and Ankle Clinic and Back to Life Remedial Therapies.
The morning was supported by the City of Whittlesea and the Whittlesea Bowls Club.
Ms Burgess said the response demonstrated the value of events that combine practical information with an opportunity for women to socialise and connect.
“The feedback has been very positive, and we are delighted with how the morning went,” she said.
The Women’s Health Week event was part of the Whittlesea VIEW Club’s ongoing efforts to support women and strengthen connections within the local community.
