Emily Waite has been the Editor of the North Central Review since late April, 2024. With a particular focus on delivering community driven stories, Emily has been responsible for implementing the new 'Words of wisdom' segment, and regularly reaches out to residents both young and old to share their stories with the paper. Emily graduated with high distinctions in a Bachelor of Music from JMC Academy in 2022, and graduated with a Graduate Diploma in Writing and Literature from Deakin University in 2023.

Nominations for the 2024 Community Achievement Awards for Victoria are now open, with several categories available to celebrate those who have contributed to their community, no matter how big or small.

Backed by 7News, the awards will recognise the ‘unsung heroes’ such as individuals, businesses, and groups who have dedicated their time to improving the lives of others.

Categories for the awards include Best’s Wines Tourism and Hospitality Award, Awards Australia Charitable Foundation Mental Health and Wellbeing Award, Coolabah Turf Connecting Communities Award, Konica Minolta Customer Service Award, Nectre Regional Service Award, Regional Development Victoria Business Achievement Award, Regional Development Victoria Leadership and Innovation Award, and Southside Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Community Hero Award.

All nominees will receive a letter of congratulations and a certificate of encouragement for their nomination.

Nominations can be made online at awardsaustralia.com/viccaa, and close Wednesday, September 4.

Winners will be announced on Friday, December 13 at the 2024 Community Achievement Awards Gala Presentation Dinner.
