THE Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) formally declared the result of the recent by-election for the City of Whittlesea’s Thomastown Ward on Friday afternoon.
Chaman Tiwari has been elected as the Councillor for Thomastown Ward for the remainder of the current Council term.
This by-election was held following the resignation of Nic Brooks as the Thomastown Ward Councillor in January this year.

Ms Tiwari is currently overseas and will officially be sworn in as a Councillor on Friday, July 3, and will participate in the extensive Council induction program over the coming months.
Ms Tiwari is the second new councillor to be sworn in following the elections, with Michael Labrador elected to the Lalor Ward last year.
