THE second stage to the Oak Street bridge repairs in Seymour are under way to help rehabilitate the structure of the bridge deck, as well as resurfacing with new asphalt to reinstate the bridge’s functionality.
It will allow the bridge to reopen to two-way traffic and improve its long-term durability.
Stage one was completed at the end of April and was majorly focused on the bridge barriers which needed repairs.
The bridge repairs started yesterday and will be completed by Monday, June 8.
The bridge will be closed for both pedestrians and transport during the repairs.
There will be multiple street closures and drivers are asked to allow for extra travel time and to follow the instructions of traffic controllers.
Heavy vehicles are encouraged to avoid travelling through Seymour when possible and use the Hume Highway and Upper Goulburn Road.
Oak Street will be fully closed off, and detours will be directed on Wimble Street, Delatite Road and Tarcombe Road.
