Drainage will be installed, new kerbs and pavement will be built, traffic signals, street lighting and landscaping and signage will be completed.

Then, from 10pm to 5am on Monday, August 3 and Tuesday, August 4, the temporary safety barriers will be moved to the north side of Watson Street, and from 5am on August 4, traffic use the south side of Watson Street.

For those travelling north of Watson Street to or from the Hume Freeway, a detour will be in place via Epping-Kilmore Road through to Wandong, with delays of up to 20 minutes expected. Cyclists will also need to follow the detour.

On the Hume Freeway, a southbound lane will be closed and speeds reduce to 40 km/h from 8pm to 6am.

A lane in each direction will be closed occasionally until late 2026 on Saturdays between 9am and 7pm, Monday to Friday nights between 8pm and 6am and Saturday and Sunday overnight between 9pm and 10am.

Occasional lane closures will also take place on Watson Street between Windham Street and Wallara Waters Boulevard/Commercial Drive on Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 2.30pm, Saturday and Sundays from 7am to 4pm, Sundays to Thursdays between 8.30pm and 5.30am and Fridays and Saturdays between 9.30pm and 9.30am.

For pedestrians, the Watson Street footpath will reopen from 5am on Wednesday, August 5. Temporary push-button pedestrian traffic lights will be in place where construction vehicles enter and leave on Watson Street.
