THE City of Whittlesea’s Learn to Ride program will come to an end this month after offering a number of sessions for residents of all ages and skill levels since last October.

The program aims to increase cycling uptake to help promote safer, more confident riding, and a significant shift towards sustainable transport.

Workshops have been run covering a range of bike-based skills, including bike maintenance, and path to road development as well as children and female-only sessions.

Community members can join a two-and-a-half-hour guided bike tour, run by accredited cycling instructor Mara Ferraro, that focuses on building confidence in riding bikes on a shared path. The event will start at 10am on Sunday, April 19, in Mill Park.

There are also children’s sessions available on Wednesdays and Fridays.

A helmet and a bike in good working order are required to participate in these sessions.

Expressions of Interest can be made through the City of Whittlesea website or by contacting the Urban Design and Transport team on (03) 9217 2170.
