KILMORE recorded a big victory in its Northern Football Netball League division two clash against Panton Hill on Sunday, while Wallan could not bounce back against Macleod.
Kilmore’s win over the Redbacks was a genuine percentage booster, with the Blues piling on 17 goals to record one of their biggest wins yet, a 108-point triumph.
Jenaya Stewart got the Blues going with the opening two goals of the match, followed by another from Chiara Nardo to ensure Kilmore led 22-1 at the first change.
The Blues continued on their merry way in the second term, with Nardo kicking another two goals, alongside goals from Luka Kennedy and Chloe Talbot, to ensure it was a 42-point lead at the main break, 49-7.
Kilmore peppered the goals to start the second half, but could only record one goal from five shots, kicked by Kennedy.
However, the Blues then got it going again to continue increasing the lead, with Jade Ventura, Brielle Kinnear and Talbot kicking goals to make the lead 71 points at the final change, 78-7.
The last quarter belonged entirely to Ventura, who went ballistic in front of goal to set the scene for a big win.
After kicking three behinds in the first term, Ventura found the goals on five occasions to make it six for the afternoon, while Kennedy kicked her third to ensure the Blues would take a 17.14 (116) to 1.2 (8) victory.
In division three, Wallan had a tough outing against Macleod, losing to the premiership fancy by 102 points.
Wallan had no answer for the Kangaroos, who kicked four goals in the opening term to establish a 28-point lead at the first change, a further five goals to make it an even 10 goals at the main break, and five more goals in the third to lead by 91 points at the final change.
The Magpies’ best quarter was the last, where they were able to restrict Macleod to just one goal for the term, but weren’t able to impact the scoreboard themselves, eventually losing 0.1 (1) to 15.13 (103).
Gabrielle Daoud fought hard against the tide, as did Kaitlyn Ter Haar, Gracie-Lee Plumbe-King, Kelly Lennox, Melanie Hope and Toni Gussenhoven.
Both teams have big games after the King’s Birthday break, with Kilmore hosting Darebin and Wallan hosting Laurimar.
