THE annual flower and garden show is back and exhibitors are invited to showcase their talents at this year’s Autumn Flower and Produce Show.

The Mount Macedon and District Horticultural Society has held an autumn show almost every year since its formation in 1922.

The spirit of the show dates back to a competition between regional grand scale growers when some had teams of gardeners employed on a full-time basis. While those times have gone, there are still many local gardeners growing a stunning range of flowers, plants and produce.

The show is open to all residents in the Macedon Ranges. Tickets will be available to purchase at the door for $6 each. Devonshire teas are $8 each and $5 for children.

There is no fee to submit an exhibit. There are 10 classes and 75 individual displays, and entries close on Thursday, March 12, at 4pm.

Grand sashes will be awarded for the best exhibit, grand aggregate winner and show managers’ favourite. Entries from schoolchildren are especially welcome, and there are fun and age-appropriate opportunities for Foundation to Year 10 students. Ribbons will be awarded for first to sixth places and group entries are encouraged.

Judging will take place on Saturday, March 14, between 8am and noon and the gallery will be open to visitors between 3pm and 5pm, and on Sunday, March 15, between 10am and 4pm.

The Autumn Flower and Produce Show will be held in the Society’s Hall at 583 Mount Macedon Road, Mt Macedon, in close proximity to the golf course.
