MAJOR Drug Squad detectives charged a man as part of an investigation into alleged drug trafficking between NSW and Victoria on Wednesday, February 25.
Officers intercepted a vehicle, arresting the driver on the Hume Highway in Kalkallo about 1.20pm on Tuesday, February 24.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, police allegedly located and seized about 43kg of methamphetamine, valued at $2.5 million.
Officers executed a search warrant at the man’s St Albans residence, and allegedly seized about $50,000 cash, Pokemon and One Piece cards worth an estimated $100,000, and mobile phones.
The 26-year-old man was charged with trafficking/possessing large commercial quantity of methamphetamine, trafficking/possess commercial quantity of methamphetamine, and possessing suspected proceeds of crime.
Detective Inspector Jamie Walker of the Major Drug Squad Unit said: “Illicit drugs destroy lives and communities. Drugs contribute to addiction, overdoses and even death and often bring weapons, organised crime networks and violence into neighbourhoods.”
The man has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.
