OVER a quarter of a million households, small businesses and community organisations have now installed a bill busting battery under the Albanese Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries program.

Batteries help households store the cheaper, cleaner energy they generate during the day and use it at night. This means less reliance on peak process, a more reliable grid, and putting downward pressure on process for everyone.

Federal Member for McEwen, Rob Mitchell said: “In McEwen, 1611 families and local businesses are embracing energy upgrades that save them money and make their homes and businesses more energy efficient.”

“Cheaper Home Batteries are helping families cut power bills and get more value from their solar. The Coalition want to slow down cheaper renewables and keep people stuck with higher bills. Labor is getting on with the job, cleaner, cheaper, reliable energy for every community.

“These results are showing our community is getting on with it, taking up batteries and backing a cleaner energy future that is made from Australia’s abundant renewable resources,” Mr Mitchell said.

New postcode level data shows the clean energy upgrade is being led by the outer suburbs and by regional and rural communities, with about 77 per cent of uptake occurring in these areas.

Doreen and Mernda (postcode 3754) had the highest uptake with 431 batteries, while Wallan, Beveridge, Upper Plenty and Darraweit Guim (postcode 3756) had 123, Beveridge (postcode 3753) has installed 113 and Whittlesea, Eden Park, Kinglake West, Kinglake Central and Humevale (postcode 3757) have 54 batteries.

“This is what the clean energy transformation looks like when it is working for Australians. It is practical, it is household-focused and it is being led by the suburbs and the regions,” Mr Mitchell said.
