An extensive LED lighting upgrade at the Seymour Racing Club (SRC) has been completed through a grant awarded under the Victorian Government’s Victorian Racing Industry Fund (VIRF).

The completed project will significantly improve conditions and safety on the training tracks for trainers, jockeys, track riders, and stable hands with increased visibility in all conditions.

With extensive upgrades to the track and facilities at the SRC over recent years, the club is well on its way to establishing itself as the state’s premier country racing destination.

SRC Chief Executive Chris Martin was grateful for the support provided by various industry stakeholders to obtain funding and complete the much-needed lighting upgrade.

“The Victorian Racing Industry Fund plays a critical role in supporting clubs like ours to upgrade their facilities and offerings for everyone from racegoers to jockeys,” he said.

“The Victorian Racing Minister, Anthony Carbines, has been incredibly supportive of country racing, and we thank the Victorian Government and Minister Carbines for backing the Seymour Racing Club.

“Likewise, Country Racing Victoria and Racing Victoria are investing strongly in racing venues across the state.

“This lighting upgrade enhances our offering to trainers and creates a safer work environment for staff right around the Kobyboyn Road precinct.

“We’re committed to continuous improvement of our facilities and thank all our partners for their support in bringing another important upgrade to fruition.”

In addition to the LED lighting upgrade, the SRC has further plans to expand training facilities.

“We’ve put together a detailed masterplan for the years ahead, and we’re eager to work on obtaining funding for even more infrastructure investments,” Mr Martin said.

“We want to be a club that trainers flock to, and we’re well positioned in the heart of Victoria’s thoroughbred country to continue our expansion.

“Minister Carbines has been supportive of our work in this space, and we’ll be turning our attention to further improvements and obtaining funding for those.

“It’s an exciting time to be involved in country racing and even more exciting to be involved at the Seymour Racing Club.”
