Last month at the All-Breeds Spring Carnival Horse Show, the Standardbred Riding Group (SRG) volunteered to host a major Horse-Riding Clubs Association of Victoria (HRCAV) showring.
The dedication of the equestrian community shone through every aspect of the show, and across the three-day event, 420 horses and owners entered into any one of the 2500 classes on offer for all ages and abilities at the Elmore Equestrian Centre.
The not-for-profit organisation is passionate about the incredible potential of Standardbred horses beyond the racetrack.
This year, Best Performed Standardbred and Best Performed Off The Track (OTT) Thoroughbred awards were added to the HRCAV showring schedule to connect them to the broader equestrian community and advance them in competition.
Judge Terry Campbell was supported by hardworking volunteers and organisers.
All Breeds Show Society (ABSS) organiser Linda Leach said that while the hot weather during the event was a deterrent for several attendees, it was nevertheless well-attended.
“The HRCAV ring had 33 member entries for a Friday, which are great numbers for a weekday event,” she said.
The overall winner of the Highpoint Garland award was given to Holly Stone and her gelding Peptos Days Gold, taking home a garland, a sash, and $50 in prize money.
The Best Performed Standardbred award went to Debbie Plecas and her mare Regal Share, while the Best Preformed OTT Thoroughbred award went to Isabella Ingram and her gelding Don Giovanni.
The major sponsors of the HRCAV ring included Off the Track Thoroughbreds, HERO Beyond the Track, the Standardbred Pleasure and Performance Horse Association of Victoria (SPPHAV), EQ Saddlery, Ascot Saddlery, Horseland, and PetStock.
The ABSS committee are backed by volunteers, and since the show’s debut in 2020, the show created for horse owners, by horse owners, has surpassed all expectations.
