A local community house needs volunteer drivers to expand their op-shop tours program, and it could be you!
Are you passionate about community lunches, social gatherings, and op-shopping? Well, you’re in luck, because the Whittlesea Community House runs op-shop tours twice a month!
There’s such a demand for the fun day out that volunteer guide Ursula Jenkins recently took to Facebook to recruit volunteers.
“Everything is all planned out for you, from start to stop,” she said.
“The guide will be given a comprehensive map showing all the good op-shops and cafes to stop at. The police check is paid for, the petrol is paid for, and there is absolutely no money to handle, except your own. Anyone can drive the bus, it’s automatic, so no special licence is required.”
The Whittlesea Community House is a not-for-profit organisation providing access to activities and programs of interest to all.
Ms Jenkins encouraged those who lived in the outer-northern suburbs and had an interest in the project to reach out.
“Op-shopping is good for the hip pocket, and it promotes repurposing and sustainable fashion,” she said.
“We travel as far as Brighton and Sunshine in a minibus which seats around 10.”
