This Sunday, the Broadford Golf Club will be celebrating their 100th birthday with a community day event.
Beginning at 10am, the event will see seasoned and novice golfers have a crack at the putting, hole in one, and longest drive competitions, while past and present members will have the chance to socialise on the green.
Broadford Golf Club President Nicole Reid said the event was not only a celebration of the last 100 years, but a toast to many more to come.
“We are still going strong after 100 years and getting stronger,” she said.
“We are extremely grateful that we can celebrate 100 years of golf with our community. We would like to share the club’s history, in particular the camaraderie—which is something that we continue to have now, thanks to the support of everyone in Broadford and surrounding areas.”
With free golf for all and kids golf equipment available on the day, Ms Reid said the club hoped the younger members of the community would come forward to tee off.
“We would love to see more juniors join. The ones we have are very talented and we’d love to be able to offer them more opportunities and competition,” she said.
“We are always on the lookout for more sponsors. We would love to improve our facilities and have some projects in the pipeline, like updating our practice nets, that we could deliver to our members a lot sooner with financial support.
“We would also like to thank everyone who has supported us over the last 100 years. Without our members we would not be the club that we are today.”
The event will run from 10am–2pm at 30 Horwood Road, Broadford, on Sunday, October 27.
