With the Whittlesea Show just around the corner, preparations are in full swing for an action-packed two-day event next month.

Scheduled for its traditional November weekend, the show will feature its beloved attractions and pavilions, while the Whittlesea Agricultural Society has also introduced fresh ideas to ensure that visitors of all generations can enjoy the cherished event.

In terms of what’s new at the show, attendees can meet charming Pygmy goats, whose event will bring a smile to many faces.

Cluney’s Tavern and Smokehouse area is another great addition, providing attendees an area to unwind and enjoy a beverage. There’s an array of new rides and entertainment, including the ever-popular dodgem cars, and music for everyone’s tastes with a lineup that includes headliner Taylor Moss, Uptown Brown, Paul Ray and his fabulous entertainers, Whittlesea Ukulele Group, and the Darebin City Brass Band who will be making an appearance for the first time.

The work of many dedicated volunteers, the show promotes the best of rural Victoria with an array of free attractions and pavilions including the working sheep dogs, heritage, animal nursery, sheep, cattle, art and photography pavilions, mounted games, and other features that draw a large crowd each year.

The Grand Parade will take place at 3pm each day, and both the Fun Dog Show and Fun and Games provide attendees with the chance to participate in some fantastic games and activities.

Entries on display this year will showcase a range of skills and talents in areas such as livestock management, educational projects, homecrafts, and photography.

Whittlesea Agricultural Society Administration Officer Georgia Gardiner acknowledged the show’s rich tradition and history and hoped the event will create lasting memories for everyone.

“There’s a lot of tradition here at the Whittlesea Show,” she said.

“Many of our much-loved events and displays remain each year. This year volunteers have worked really hard and every pavilion has something new to see.

“We see that the community and the demographics are changing, and we are aiming to maintain a great balance between familiarity and keeping the show fresh, with something for everyone in the community to enjoy.”

The Whittlesea Show will take place on November 2 and 3 at the Whittlesea Showgrounds.
