THE Whittlesea Agricultural Society is mourning the loss of past president Brian Alford, with his funeral service to be held this afternoon at the Whittlesea Agricultural Society at 1pm.

A lifelong Whittlesea resident, Mr Alford was also the chairman of the Victorian Agricultural Societies Association, a servant of the Charolais Society of Australia for well over five decades, and a life member of the Agricultural Society that he so dearly loved.

The Whittlesea Agricultural Society put out a statement on Thursday afternoon.

“The Whittlesea Agricultural Society is deeply saddened by the passing of our Past President and Life Member, Brian Alford,” they wrote.

“His warm smile, friendship, and dedication to the Whittlesea Agricultural Society will be greatly missed.

“Our sincere condolences are extended to Robin and the Alford family during this difficult time.”

The Charolais Society of Australia also wrote about his long-serving association.

“Brian joined the Society on the 1st June 1970 (Karingal Charolais). Brian has been a tremendous advocate for the Charolais breed and the Melbourne Royal show. His contribution to the rural industry and Charolais breed is exceptional. We pass on our sincere condolences to the Alford family for their loss,” they wrote.
