Grants between $10,000 and $300,000 are now on offer to support food relief activities across the state.
Backed by the State Government, two streams of the grants will seek to provide small and large-scale initiatives that address food insecurity and provide greater access to fresh and healthy food.
Neighbourhood houses, community and volunteer-led organisations, social enterprises, and Aboriginal Community Controlled organisations are all able to apply for the Local Grants, while regional and state-wide food relief providers who supply centralised food rescue, warehousing and logistics can apply for the Coordinated Grants stream.
Minister for Carers and Volunteers Ros Spence stated the grants would help ease cost-of-living pressures for many residents.
“With the cost-of-living on the rise, many Victorians need support to put food on the table and that’s why we’re boosting support for food relief where it’s needed most,” she said.
“We know how important these service providers are in providing food relief right across the state, and we’re making sure they can get on and do their important work.”
Local Food Relief organisations established in the area include Gateway Church, Love in Action Wallan, and Whittlesea Community House.
