Are you passionate about the City of Whittlesea? Do you have strong leadership skills? Are you ready, and wanting, to make a difference?
If so, you may be just what the municipality needs.
With the three-month countdown to Local Government elections in October now ticking away, acting Chief Executive Sarah Renner is encouraging residents to consider standing for Council.
Ensuring that the voices of the community are heard and that elected councillors represent the diverse needs and perspectives of all, the position is not one to be taken lightly.
But for those wanting to make a change and a real difference in the community that they call home, Ms Renner stated that the position would provide a fantastic opportunity to do exactly that.
“Becoming a councillor presents a significant opportunity for residents to represent their community and actively participate in shaping the future of the City of Whittlesea. Your ideas, your vision, and your leadership can make a real difference,” she said.
Two information sessions will be held later this month for potential candidates, with the first session tailored to the north-west metro region, and the second specifically for City of Whittlesea residents.
Held on Thursday, July 18, the first session will run from 6.30pm-8.30pm at the Broadmeadows Town Hall, 10 Dimboola Rd, Broadmeadows, hosted by the City of Whittlesea and the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV).
The second session will be held the following week on Thursday, July 25, running from 2pm-5pm at the City of Whittlesea Council Offices, 25 Ferres Blvd, South Morang.
“If you are thinking of running for Council, and [are] keen to learn more, I encourage you to come along to the upcoming information sessions,” Ms Renner said.
Additional sessions will also be available for women who wish to run for Council and showcase their leadership skills.
