THE City of Whittlesea is inviting residents to have their say on the draft Road Safety Plan 2026–2036 and help shape a safer future for everyone who travels on the roads.
The draft Road Safety Plan provides strategic direction for improving road safety over the next 10 years. The plan has been shaped by feedback from people who travel across the municipality, including those who drive, walk, ride and use public transport.
The plan supports Council’s vision for a transport network that is safe for everyone, whether walking, riding, driving or catching public transport and provides accessible and sustainable travel options that keep people connected.
While Council’s role is to manage and maintain local roads and infrastructure, the plan recognises that road safety is a shared responsibility, with Council, the Victorian Government, Victoria Police and everyone who uses our roads all playing a role in keeping our community safe.
Council is now asking residents to review the draft plan and tell them if they’ve got it right. Whether you walk, ride, drive or catch public transport, Council wants to hear about your experiences. Your feedback will help shape the final Road Safety Plan 2026–2036.

City of Whittlesea Mayor Councillor Lawrie Cox said it was an important plan.
“This draft plan is built on what we’ve already heard from our community, and now we want to know if we’ve got it right. Tell us what’s missing, what we can do better and how we can make our roads safer before the Road Safety Plan is finalised,” he said.
“Everyone deserves to feel safe getting around the City of Whittlesea, whether they’re walking, riding, driving or catching public transport. Road safety is a shared responsibility, and Council is committed to creating a transport network that is safe, accessible and sustainable for everyone.
“Council will also continue advocating to the Victorian Government for safer, better maintained arterial roads managed by the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP), helping improve safety for everyone who travels across our municipality.”
