KILMORE trots were on again last Tuesday night on October 27 with an even program of nine keenly contested races.
The 1690 metre Tellurian Wines Trotters Mobile opened proceedings and it was Toolern Vale owner/trainer Freddy Spiteri to land the major prize with 5YO Majestic Son-Hilary Hill mare Our Tinka Belle.
Driven by Jack Laugher, who gives his drives every chance on most occasions, Our Tinka Belle facing the starter for the fourth time settled three back in the moving line from an inside second line draw as Patnwill (gate four) led before easing to allow stablemate Moonshine Louie (outside front line) to take over.
Driven patiently, Our Tinka Belle gave chase rapidly in the last lap only to be pushed four wide into never never land on the final bend. Running home stylishly Our Tinka Belle scored by 1.5 metres from polemarker Suzys Dream (death seat early – one/one – three wide home turn), with Moonshine Louie holding third 6.4 metres away. The mile rate was 2.00.6.
Evergreen Bolinda reinsman Chris Alford was successful aboard Echuca trainer Wayne Lear’s polemarker Goodmorning Miki in the Next Payments Maiden Pace over 2180 metres.
Beginning safely Goodmorning Miki dropped to the back of the leader Ride High Captain (gate two) running into the first turn and after enjoying a sweet passage, used the sprint lane to blouse Alcatraz Girl (extreme draw) from near last by 1.4 metres, with Goodmorning Miki a half head away third. The mile rate was 2.02.6.
The JC Windows 3YO Maiden Pace over 1690 metres saw Kialla’s Stephen (Boyo) Boyington snare the quinella with Heston Blue Chip-That’s Reality filly That’s Me Again blousing the heavily supported odds-on favourite Touch Of Reality by a nose margin in a rate of 1.58.6.
Driven by Leigh Sutton, That’s Me Again (gate five) was quick to drop down and follow Touch Of Reality which was driven hard from the pole to hold the front running. Looking the winner on the final bend, Touch Of Reality was nabbed in the last stride by That’s Me Again along the sprint lane in a very tricky finish, with Sew Hopeful (gate three – one/two – outside the leader on the home turn) third 6.4 metres away.
The Broadstead Kilmore Maiden Trotters Mobile over 1690 metres was a rough result for punters when 3YO Rock N Roll Heaven-Dreamscape Aurora filly Heavenly Glow trained by Tyrone Abela and driven by stable assistant Kyle Marshall scored in a 2.04.2 mile rate.
Settling four pegs from the extreme draw as Our Arnold speared across the face of the field to lead from gate six, Heavenly Glow had moved to be four pegs mid-race and three pegs in the last lap after Believe In Sunny eased into the open in the last lap with Royal Lady after a bad beginning making up ground to obtain a one/one trail home.
Coming away from the inside prior to the home turn in the last lap to make the home turn one/one after Believe In Sunny had dropped to the back of the leader leaving Royal Lady exposed, Heavenly Glow sprouted wings in the straight to score by a neck over Royal Lady whose effort was full of merit. Believe In Sunny battled on well for third 1.1 metres back.
Tough 5YO Rock N Roll Heaven-Isabelle Delacour gelding Monsieur Flamel relishes a tough passage and did that before winning the 1690 metre O’Briens Electrical Pace in a 1.57.9 mile rate.
Trained at Stephen Clarke’s Charlton stable by son Connor who drove him, Monsieur Flamel (gate five) raced uncovered for the entire trip before careering away on turning to greet the judge by two metres from Hellovastory (outside front line – one/two) which burst through a gap in the straight, with 11YO gelding Tophut Johny (gate three – one/one) third a neck back. It was Monsieur Flamel’s 16th victory in 131 outings which include 28 placings.
The Coulter Legal Pace over 1690 metres went the way of Parwan trainer Taylor Ford’s 4YO Lincoln Royal-Feelinkindasporty gelding Justlikedave.
Driven by Jodi Quinlan, Justlikedave was trapped wide from gate four and pressed forward to obtain the front running from Corey Bell’s poleline sit/sprinter Highview Hammer which led out.
Travelling sweetly, Justlikedave just lasted by a head from the fast-finishing Forgone Conclusion (Reagan Clarke), who was three-wide solo on the last lap from the rear after being taken back from outside the front line. Anakin (gate six), also three wide at the start, went forward to race exposed and held on well for third a metre back. The mile rate was 1.56.6.
On what was a great night for the Stephen Clarke stable, 4YO Betting Line-Isabelle Delacour gelding Are Weasley, a half-brother to Monsieur Delacour was successful in the 1690 metre MC Labour Pace.
Again, with Connor driving, Are Weasley (gate five) settled one/one as Tommys Lookout (gate two) led before handing over to Opertiser (gate four). When local hope Miki Mark was set alight by Josh Duggan to make an unsuccessful bid for the lead after being trapped three wide from the outset to eventually join the pacemaker, Riddlemethis was sent forward three wide uncovered from the tail in the last lap with the trio of Opertiser, Miki Mark and Riddlemethis making the home turn together to fight out the finish.
Easing off their backs on turning Are Weasley out wide finished with a wet sail to overhaul them all winning by 2 metres from Miki Mark who once again was void of any luck and Riddlemethis third a nose back in a 1.59.4 mile rate.
Kialla part/owner/trainer Dave Farrar used the services of talented Kialla reinswoman Tasmyn Potter to snare the 1690 metre C&M Build Group Pace with highly fancied 4YO Jilliby Kung Fu-Em Vee Em gelding Krakey returning a 1.59.7 mile rate.
Working hard from outside the front line Krakey despite racing in the open outside Treacheroustimes (gate three) surged to the front on the home turn with Glenline (solo second line) in hot pursuit to no avail, and Dot Ball (gate four – three pegs) after angling wide chasing to finish second, with Glenline third. The margins a neck by 1.5 metres.
As usual the Picklebet ‘Get Your Pickle On’ Pace over 1690 metres closed the meeting with Tooleen trainer/driver Alby Ashwood taking the quinella when 4YO Captain Crunch-Gotta Go Electtowatch mare Refusal defeating the short priced favourite Bettorleftalone.
Enjoying the run of the race from gate three trailing the leader Emily Vincent (gate two) with Bettorleftalone (gate four) in the open, Refusal came away from the inside to be momentarily one/one approaching the final bend as Bettorleftalone took care of the leader. Cruising outside her stablemate in the straight, Refusal coasted to the front in the shadows of the post to register a soft 3.9 metre margin over Bettorleftalone in a slick 1.54.5 mile rate. With In Reason (outside front line – one/two last lap) was third 4.4 metres away.
Kilmore race again on Thursday.
