THOUSANDS of Wollert residents will benefit from improved sewer services following the completion of Yarra Valley Water’s $20 million Love Branch Sewer project, helping support the suburb’s continued growth.
More than 20,000 existing and future properties will benefit from the upgrade, including homes in the Aurora and Rathdowne estates and residents of the Woodlea Lifestyle retirement community.
As one of Melbourne’s fastest growing areas, Wollert continues to welcome new families and businesses.
The completed Love Branch Sewer will help ensure essential services can continue to support customers as the area grows.
Yarra Valley Water Deputy General Manager Asset Delivery and Care, Simon Willis said the project strengthens the sewerage network and supports the area’s continued growth.
“This upgrade provides the sewerage capacity needed to support Wollert’s rapid growth and ensures our network remains reliable for the community,” he said.
“Completing the Love Branch Sewer also means we can safely retire temporary infrastructure that has supported the area until now, delivering a more efficient long term solution for customers.”
Delivered in partnership with MFJ Constructions, the project included a range of initiatives to minimise impacts on the local community and reduce waste during construction.
Crews maintained safe pedestrian and cyclist access along the Galada Tamboore shared path throughout the works and reused construction materials wherever possible, helping reduce waste and truck movements.
Mr Willis said the completed upgrade will play an important role in supporting Wollert’s future.
“As Wollert continues to grow and evolve, this sewer will play an important role in supporting the community’s needs for decades. It’s a lasting investment in the region’s future,” he said.
