A BRILLIANT weekend for Mitchell Rangers saw it complete the double, with both men’s and women’s senior teams taking victory.
It was William Mulvey’s day at Broadford Secondary College as he ran riot on Dynamo Melbourne, helping Mitchell Rangers score a 5-1 victory.
Mulvey was simply dominant – he scored two goals in the first 12 minutes to help Rangers well and truly on their way, and although a late goal kept Dynamo Melbourne in the game, it was still a 2-1 lead at the main break.
Mulvey completed his hat-trick in the 67th minute, but he certainly wasn’t done.
In the 75th minute, he sealed the game with his fourth goal, before he finished off a five-star performance with his fifth goal in the 88th minute, ensuring it was a memorable day personally, as well as for the Rangers, who moved four points clear from the bottom of the ladder.
Rangers will host its last men’s match of the season this weekend against Wyndham FC looking to continue a positive finish to the campaign.
In the women’s competition, a 10-minute burst from Rangers ensured they would take a 3-0 win over PEGS, moving them up to eighth on the ladder at Diamond Valley United’s expense.
After an hour, it was Sarah Warren who opened the scoring, but that was just the start, with Olivia Cachia making it 2-0 in the 67th minute, before Romany Faulknor sealed the three points for Rangers with another goal in the 71st minute.
Rangers will host again this Sunday when they play Whittlesea Rangers at Broadford Secondary College.
