A PULSATING 3-3 draw was on the table for Mitchell Rangers this weekend, almost pulling off a stunning come-from-behind victory against Footscray Rangers at Broadford Secondary College.
Mitchell fell behind early on, with a 16th minute goal giving Footscray the lead, before William Mulvey equalised in the 26th minute.
All the work which went in to the equaliser counted for nought, however, with Footscray regaining the lead two minutes after the restart.
Mitchell kept on pushing, and Mulvey made it a brace in the 43rd minute to leave the score evenly poised at 2-2 at the main break.
After the resumption, Mulvey completed a memorable hat-trick in the 54th minute, leaving Mitchell leading 3-2.
Rangers held on for 36 minutes, but a late goal left hearts broken as Footscray equalised in the 90th minute, leaving both teams with a share of the points.
Mitchell Rangers sadly had to forfeit the women’s game across the weekend against Bendigo City.
