MORE cycling enthusiasts can explore the Goulburn Valley region, thanks to the State Government locking in a world series cycling event for another two years in Seymour.
Minister Michaela Settle announced funding of $150,000 to secure the Gravelista event in 2026 and 2027.
This is designed to bring hundreds of visitors to Seymour and the surrounding region, boosting the local visitor economy and supporting communities and traders as the region continues to recover from the 2026 summer bushfires.
The event will serve as an official qualifying round for the 2027 Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Gravel World Championships in France’s Haute-Savoie region.
From the Seymour Racecourse, riders will tackle some of Australia’s fastest gravel roads through the Goulburn Valley, helping position Seymour as a globally recognised cycling destination.
Gravelista and destination partner Go Seymour are already working to attract Australian and international visitors to this year’s event on Sunday, October 25.
Minister Settle said this was a high-class event for Seymour.
“These events are exactly what regional Victoria is all about – driving tourism, supporting local jobs and businesses, and showcasing the best of our communities to the world,” she said.
Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said it was a boost to the region.
“Securing Gravelista is a win for the Seymour community and its surrounding region, bringing more visitors and supporting businesses across the Goulburn Valley region,” she said.
Go Seymour Executive Officer Sissy Hoskin said the event promised to showcase Seymour.
“This event is a fantastic showcase of the Goulburn region’s natural beauty and community spirit — and a real boost for local tourism,” she said.
