THE City of Whittlesea (CoW) is inviting members of the community to help shape their future growth strategy.

The draft Economic Growth Strategy for 2026-2035 opened on May 25 and is to help strengthen the city by converting growth into more local jobs, attracting investment, strengthening local businesses and creating more vibrant centres for people who live in the area.

The draft strategy can help the council support and leverage this growth by encouraging new businesses and industries to move to the area, improving access to jobs and training.

CoW Mayor Councillor Lawrie Cox said the CoW is growing at an extreme rate and the area will need to plan to maximise opportunities.

“The City of Whittlesea is growing quickly, and this draft strategy is about planning ahead to support local jobs, businesses and future opportunities for our community,”

Feedback on the survey will help ensure the strategy reflects local priorities, identifies opportunities for future growth and responds to the needs of residents, businesses and industry.

“By working together, we can build a more diverse and resilient economy that supports more local jobs, encourages innovation and ensures our city continues to thrive well into the future.” Cr Cox said.
