VICTORIANS can now apply to get 20 per cent off their vehicle registration cost after the State Government’s cost-of-living measure came into effect yesterday.

Drivers across the state can receive up to $186 back from their registration costs for up to two cars they own.

To be eligible for the rebate, Victorians need to have paid their registration between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026 for any personal-use vehicle under 4.5 tonnes.

A full rebate will be credited regardless of whether you pay your registration in full or in instalments.

Payments will be made by direct bank transfer, and most will be credited within 30 days.

Vehicles registered to organisations are ineligible, but work vehicles under your name are.

Applications are open until July 31 through the Service Victoria website, or on the app.

The State Government’s free public transport measure has concluded with half price public transport now in effect.

This will continue until the end of the year with full daily fares capped at $5.70.

Special pass holders and travellers under 18 years old remain eligible for free travel.
