JUNIOR grand finals have been run and won, with local teams in the thick of it.

Earlier in the month in the Gisborne District Cricket Association, Wallan’s under 15 girls team claimed a premiership over Kyneton despite a washout with the Magpies sitting on 2/95, owing to its higher spot on the ladder.

It was a similar story in the under 18 girls, with Wallan 5/109 against Riddell/Romsey before rain played its part in washing out the game. With Wallan on top of the ladder, it claimed the premiership.

A BIG WIN: Broadford claimed the GDCA under 13 boys north premiership.

Wallan made 7/97 off its 30 overs at Harley Hammond Reserve on Saturday, before Broadford chased it down to make 6/98 with just under seven overs to spare.

Last week, the Wallan under 15 team took the under 15 boys north premiership, making light work of Macedon by bowling it out for 96, before finishing at 1/97 in response off just 16.5 overs.

Likewise, in the Seymour District Cricket Association, their grand finals were played last week.

Tallarook took out the under 13 competition with a comfortable 89-run win over Alexandra.

Batting first, Tallarook made 3/167, before restricting Alexandra to 8/78.

The under 16s competition belonged to Seymour with a dominant victory over Avenel.

Seymour bowled Avenel out for 59 and only needed 14.2 overs to get the job done without loss.
