Seniors celebrate together

THE local University of the Third Age (U3A) groups left their mark on the Victorian Seniors Festival at the U3A Kilmore-Wallan Seniors Week Morning Tea on Friday at JJ Clancy Reserve.

More than 75 members were present for a couple of bouts of trivia, as well as a joint performance from the Kilmore ukulele band and the Wallan choir and an array of morning tea dishes.

Trivia was the flavour of the day with stiff competition between tables on topics that tested the memory.

It didn’t stop some keen mouths from offering answers a little bit too loud which surely helped out others in the room.

The ukulele-choir performance featured some big tunes from the 70s like Rocking All Over The World and a cover of the duet-style Summer Wine by Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood.

The Kilmore recorder group “Kandis” also played some songs as the event wound down.

President of the Kilmore U3A Mark Perrott was pleased with the turnout, and alongside the rest of the attendees enjoyed the returning tunes of the ukuleles from last year and the added depth that came with the Wallan choir.

This year marks the third edition of the event which has become a staple of the U3A calendar.
