MITCHELL Shire seniors are being encouraged to get active and stay connected through a series of free outdoor fitness sessions at Chittick Park, Seymour.

The initiative is part of the Enjoy Impact Research Project, a national program delivered in partnership with the National Ageing Research Institute (NARI) and Mitchell Shire Council, aimed at promoting physical activity and wellbeing among older Australians.

The upcoming sessions, scheduled for Fridays on July 25, August 1, and August 8, all running from 10.15am to 11.15am, will be held on specialised outdoor fitness equipment designed specifically with seniors in mind.

Mitchell Shire Mayor Cr John Dougall said the initiative aligns with the Council’s ongoing commitment to support healthy ageing in the community.

“It’s a great opportunity to stay active, meet new people and enjoy the outdoors,” Cr Dougall said.

There’s no need to book, just show up dressed in suitable exercise clothing and footwear, and don’t forget your water bottle. Sessions may be cancelled in the event of extreme wet or windy weather.

For those looking to boost fitness, make new connections, and have a bit of fun along the way, this is a great chance to get moving in a friendly and supportive environment.
