MITCHELL Rangers gave it all it had in its final game of the season but fell to Roxburgh Park United.
Sitting in second, Roxburgh Park United were expected to win, but did have a bit of a fight on its hands in the second half.
However, it appeared the job was done at half time, with United scoring two goals in six minutes, before adding another at the end of the first half to lead 3-0 at the break.
William Mulvey added another goal in the 58th minute to make things interesting, but a goal for United in the 79th minute made the game completely safe – but not before Mulvey added a second just a minute later to make it 4-2.
United added a fifth goal to eventually win 5-2.
Rangers finish in 11th position at the end of the season, with three wins and six draws from their 22 games.
Despite taking an early lead against ladder-leaders Hume City, Mitchell Rangers’ women’s team felt the full force later, losing 10-1.
Romany Faulknor gave Rangers a great start by scoring in the opening minute, but Hume City soon put the foot down to score five times across 40 minutes to lead 5-1 at the break.
Hume City continued its dominance in the second half, scoring five more times to eventually finish off an undefeated home-and-away campaign.
Rangers finished eighth on the ladder with three wins and three draws from 18 games.
