IT was an unfortunate start for Mick Marrett’s Kilmore side as they lost their second consecutive game under him.
They played Watsonia at home on Saturday afternoon in the rain and couldn’t get the job done against the fourth-placed team.
Kilmore were slow to start, conceding the first two goals of the game, closing out the first quarter one goal to three.
After Watsonia kicked the first in the second quarter, it was finally time for the Blues to dig deep and they did, responding with three goals in four minutes to basically level the scores.
They went into halftime with a reachable margin, trailing by only eight points and the home team then were good enough to bring the margin to one point by the final break setting up a classic at JJ Clancy Reserve.
But they would then go goalless in the final term kicking three points and conceding five goals in a massive shift of momentum, finishing the game 48-78.
William Bowshall-Tanner, Joshua Coe, Joshua Robertson, Tristan Lilburn, Hayden Phillips, Emmett Clark were all named in the best for the Blues who had seven different goal kickers on the day.
Cameron Cloke, coming off the MND Charity game the night before, kicked five for Watsonia which moves him to fourth in the league goalkicking.
Kilmore look forward to next week where they take on Mernda which will look to be a tough test for them.
