WHITTLESEA have taken a big victory over Darebin in the Northern Football Netball League division three women’s competition.

The Eagles were relentless all afternoon in holding Darebin scoreless, scoring three goals in the first term to lead by 20 points.

The Eagles then had some trouble in front of goal, kicking three goals from 15 attempts in the second and third quarters, yet still led by 50 points at the final change.

Four more goals in the final term ensured the Eagles would get back on the right side of the ledger, scoring 10.14 (74) to no score.

In an even team effort, Olivia Hodgson was best, with Harper McPherson-Goulding, Leah O’Dell, Tahlia Brander and Indiana Robinson also named in the best.

Brander led the way with two goals for the Eagles, who host Heidelberg West next week.

Laurimar had their chances but were unable to score goals when needed against Reservoir, going down by 35 points.

The Mustangs ultimately made their move in the second term, scoring four goals, while Laurimar, at the same time, scored four behinds.

That would be as close as the Power would get to scoring throughout the afternoon, as Reservoir added one goal in the third and last quarters to eventually take a 6.3 (39) to 0.4 (4) victory.

Laurimar will look to rebound against Macleod next week.

Other results in division three saw Kilmore and Wallan score wins over Heidelberg West and Epping respectively, while Montmorency 2 defeated Macleod and Hurstbridge held on for a thrilling win over North Heidelberg.

South Morang scored a second win in division two, running away from Greensborough in the final term to take a 25-point victory.

It was close throughout the first three quarters as both teams went goal-for-goal, with the Lions hanging on to a four-point lead at the final change, but they were able to kick the only three goals of the last term to make it two on the bounce, scoring 6.9 (45) to 3.2 (20).

Hailey Cordova was best on ground for the Lions, kicking three goals, while Devony Hoard, Ruby Failla, Ella Pinney and Hayley Ball were also good performers.

The Lions move on to a battle with Ivanhoe next week.
