HUNDREDS of thousands of families across the state have saved more than $150 million on essential school costs, thanks to the State Government’s School Saving Bonus. However, families who have yet to take advantage of the bonus must act soon, as the deadline approaches to purchase uniforms and textbooks.

Premier Jacinta Allan and Deputy Premier Ben Carroll are urging families to use their $400 School Saving Bonus to buy winter school uniforms before colder weather sets in.

Since its launch in November, the initiative has facilitated over 700,000 transactions, with families saving more than $60 million on uniforms, $58 million on camps and excursions, and $31.8 million on textbooks. While most families have used their bonus partially or fully, around 30 per cent remains untouched and is available for use in the coming months.

Families have until June 30 to spend the $400 School Saving Bonus on uniforms or textbooks through approved suppliers or second-hand uniform and textbook shops run by schools. Any remaining funds after this date will be automatically transferred to a family’s school account, where they can be used for school-related activities such as camps, sports, or excursions.

Eligible non-government school families holding a healthcare or concession card can also benefit from the bonus. These schools determine how best to allocate the funds to support their families and students.
