THE Coalition Government will commit $2.5 million towards building a new community pavilion at the Dwyer Street Reserve in Kalkallo if elected at the May election.
Hume City Mayor, Councillor Jarrod Bell said Hume City Council endorses the funding.
“The Council welcomes this funding announcement of $2.5 million from the Coalition to support the development of a community pavilion at the Dwyer Street Reserve,” he said.
“The infrastructure our growing communities need can only be delivered with all levels of government working together collaboratively, to create places which foster belonging and connection.”
The new 1,584m2 sport and community pavilion will include a multi-purpose community room equipped with advanced audio-visual facilities, and a fully functional community kitchen. New female-friendly change rooms and trainer rooms will ensure inclusivity and accessibility for all users, and there will be multiple equipment storerooms, and a feature will be a new solar panel array with a storage battery system for efficient energy use.
Liberal candidate for McEwen, Jason McClintock said it is important that beyond sports, the pavilion will serve as a versatile space for community gatherings.
