Leader of the Opposition Peter Dutton hosted a community roundtable in Kalkallo earlier this month to engage with locals about their concerns and experiences regarding crime and community safety.
The roundtable saw many faces sit alongside Mr Dutton, including Shadow Minister for Home Affairs Senator James Paterson, Liberal Candidate for McEwen Jason McClintock, as well as several community leaders and local representatives.
In addition to the roundtable discussions, Mr Dutton announced that a future Dutton Coalition Government would commit $7.5 million in additional funding over three years to Crime Stoppers if elected.
The organisation is one of Australia’s most respected crime-fighting services.
The investment aims to support the expansion of Crime Stoppers’ operations and strengthen efforts to protect communities, including those in McEwen, from the harmful effects of crime.
Mr Dutton said the growing concern of crime highlighted the need for more action.

“Today, I, along with Senator James Paterson and Jason McClintock, Liberal Party Candidate for McEwen, met with community leaders and local representatives in Kalkallo to discuss the growing issue of crime in the local community,” he said.
“Their stories highlight the urgent need for stronger action against crime at all levels.
“Small business employees, like some I met today, are feeling the impact of repeat offences, theft, and threats to their safety.
“This is unacceptable. Every Australian deserves to feel safe in their home, workplace, and community.
“Part of the plan to get Australia back on track is about keeping Australia safe—safe for families, safe for businesses, and safe for every community.
“Under a Dutton Coalition Government, we will ensure our communities are stronger, more secure, and better supported to tackle crime.”
