At the weekend, the Gisborne and District Cricket Association (GDCA) played round two matches in sunny conditions, and round one in the Kookaburra Women’s League.
In the Johnstone Shield Firsts, Kilmore and Wallan both travelled to play.
Kilmore met Eynesbury and they won the toss and chose to bat first.
Leon Zelveys hit five balls to the boundary line to record a four each time. Unfortunately, his first running partner, Elliot Frendo, went out for a duck at the end of the first over.
Near the 19th over, when Kilmore Captain Jacob Walton walked onto the pitch, he faced 38 balls and was stumped out after 19 runs near the 31st over.
The Kilmore side finished their innings with Jake Bourke and Stuart Partridge still on the pitch, seven out for 190 runs.
In the fielding, Kilmore bowler Partridge collected a wicket at the end of the sixth over and another not so far away, near the 10th. Ben Dawson hit the opposition’s stumps four times during the innings, and as the overs counted down, Eynesbury finished defeated by Kilmore, 10 out for 144 runs.
Wallan travelled to Aintree for their match, with Wallan bowlers Steven Bell and Bryan Vance taking to the pitch after Aintree won the toss and elected to bat first.
Bell bowled Aintree Captain Sharma Vinay Kumar out for a duck in the first over, and later Kalsi Charandeep with clever fielding from Cambell Fowler in the fifth over. Fourth in line for Aintree was Gurbeer Singh, and he faced 86 balls before another clever catch by Fowler saw him out after 62 runs early in the 33rd over. The highest scorer for Aintree was Singh, and they finished their innings with two batters not out, nine for 154 runs.

Wallan was well into the seventh over when Matthew Clayton went out for Leg Before Wicket (LBW). Meanwhile his running partner Spencer Whittingham had faced 65 balls, and in between he hit five fours. Unfortunately he was caught out during the 23rd but not before making 43 runs.
When Bryan Vance went out for LBW after 10 runs, Nathan Fowler followed him in the batting order. Fowler faced 58 balls, and he remained on the pitch for the remainder of the game, and he also had successful batting partnerships with Ryan Cumberland and Jack Mifsud.

The match finished in Wallan’s favour by an exhilarating 10 runs, nine for 154.
On Sunday in the Kookaburra Women’s League, Wallan travelled to play Gisborne for round one on the fixture.
Wallan won the toss and Megan Farrell arrived on the pitch to face the first ball and was joined by Kia Montgomery.
Unfortunately, Montgomery was caught out in the fifth over, and Captain Felicity Vance followed in the batting order.
Vance played throughout the remaining 15 overs and finished with eight runs not out. Kerrie Curran made 11 big runs, including two fours, and in between Farrell retired in the 12th over not out along with Lara Vecchie.
Wallan finished their first innings with Selina Hadfield and Vance not out, two for 105.
In the fielding, Wallan took two wickets, and one was against Stephanie Jones who Vance bowled out for a duck in the 14th over.
Clever fielding from Farrell and bowling from Vecchie saw the opposition’s Macy Geisler caught out after one run, but unfortunately the Gisborne side won by one run, two out for 106.
