THE future of the Bald Hill to Merri Creek was discussed at last week’s Mitchell Shire Council meeting with the council see to endorse the Bald Hill to Merri Creek Landscape Master Plan 2026.
Cr Claudia James was passionate about the topic, saying it was a well thought out plan.
“It’s an excellent plan, if it’s ever implemented, we are going to have the most wonderful expanse of public open space,” she said.
“It’s well worth anyone reading those plans, it’s very well done and very imaginative with lots of thought put into it.”
Cr Nathan Clark was also a big fan of the plan saying “This is a fantastic plan”.
“I can see that this is like a mental health treatment facility for the community down there. It’s absolutely essential that this funded and activated as soon as possible to accompany the huge population growth that we’ve got down there.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing this activated sooner rather than later.”
The introduction to the on the future plan states: “The Master Plan strengthens regional connections between Bald Hill and Merri Creek, supporting the Parkland’s vision for an interconnected green network linking local reserves with key ecological and cultural assets”
The master plan looks to build for a populated future, allowing people to passively exercise in one of the Mitchell Shire’s most well known areas.
