It was a good turn out for the Junior Rangers at the weekend with mixed results.
Under 11 Girls
The Under 11 Girls’ team played the Darebin Falcons on Sunday at home. It was a great tight contest and both teams showed some great form. Ava Boliancu kicked two goals early in the first half to hold the Rangers in a good lead going into the break.
An early goal by the Falcons in the second half made for an interesting contest, but the Rangers were able to hold on wining 2-1 at the final whistle. Marley Bisignano took out the Best on Ground for the day for her hard work in defence, and despite getting injured in the second half, made her way back on the ground to continue her dominance in defence.
Under 11 Boys
Despite having only one sub and no regular goal keepers in the line-up, the Under 11’s played well and gave an excellent performance.
The first half was a tight affair, with Devish’s equalizer cancelling out Craigieburn’s opening goal. The Rangers continued to dig deep in the second half, with Isaac adding another equalizer.
The team battled valiantly but fell short in a 4-2 defeat against Craigieburn City FC on home soil. Stand-up defending and midfield work made Craigieburn’s win as difficult as possible.
Isaac’s tireless efforts in attack and a staggering eight shots on goal, earned him the Man of the Match title. Devish also deserves recognition for his creativity in midfield, consistently creating scoring opportunities for the Rangers.
