All roads will lead to Whittlesea on Saturday for round eight of the Australian Rodeo Championships.
Australia’s best cowboys and cowgirls will compete for an estimated $50,000 in prizemoney and trophies, along with a chance to accumulate valuable points that give them an opportunity to compete at the National Finals rodeo at the end of the season.
Rodeo stock will again be supplied by John Gill and Son from The Rock in New South Wales.
The Gill family are recognised as some of Australia’s oldest and most reliable stock contractors, and will showcase some of their best stock including former Australian bucking bulls and horses.
The stock has travelled throughout the year, appearing at the Australian Bushmen’s Campdraft and Rodeo Association, ABCRA, national finals three weeks ago in Tamworth, the famous Mount Isa Rodeo in northern Queensland, and the Longreach Stockmans Hall of Fame to name just a few.
Mr Gill said the family was excited to be associated with the Whittlesea Rodeo, now in its 51st year and widely acclaimed as Victoria’s most entertaining rodeo, with something for everyone and a real family event.
Organiser of the Whittlesea Rodeo and director of Tarraroo Rodeo Company Russell Green said Whittlesea Pro Rodeo had fast gained the impeccable reputation of a fun-filled, action-packed event.
Spectators will enjoy grandstand and ringside seating, big screen viewing, comedy clowns, arena acts, a spectacular grand entry with pyrotechnicians, a bag piper, a wide variety of food stores, side shows, and stall holders.
Whittlesea Football Netball Club will again cater for patrons with a licenced bar.
Mr Green urged rodeo fans to secure tickets early, with many people turned away from the gate before opening time at last year’s event.
Tickets are selling fast, and patrons are advised to purchase their tickets early to avoid disappointment as the event is likely to sell out.
