THIS November 8-21, two members of the Rotary Club of Whittlesea, along with other volunteers from other Rotary clubs and others who are not Rotarians but wish to make good in a 3rd world community, will travel to Cambodia looking to make a difference.
All are making a humanitarian visit to Kampong Spue province to assist the school of 220 students.
This province is one of the poorest in the country, yet one of the most beautiful.
The people are generous but blessed with little.
This school commenced its total upgrade in 2012 with Rotary assistance from a town of virtually no amenities, the ones we take for granted each day.
Intermittent electricity, no running water and no vehicles except trucks carting rocks through the town from the mountains.
The town prior to 2012 had no education and all children were illiterate.
Recently Rotary World of a Difference (WoD) installed new toilets in the school and made physical repairs to the school buildings.
This tour hopes to continue building repairs, cull and add library books, painting, instillation of a playground, student handwashing and dental hygiene education and donation of 10 laptops to the library.
Enquiries and donations could be directed to Lex at 0419 361 027.
