A new $70 million retail hub is now under construction in Kalkallo.

The 8000-square metre Kalkallo Town Centre will provide an essential amenity to the Cloverton Estate in the initial stages of the Lockerbie North Precinct.

Situated on the newly-constructed Cloverton Boulevard at the intersection of Toyon Road, Kalkallo, the retail hub will feature a full-line Woolworths supermarket, 148-place childcare centre managed by Aspire, petrol station, medical centre, discount pharmacy and food and beverage offerings.

Developers Oreana Property has appointed Melbourne-based company FOURSQ Construction as the building contractor for the development.

The project is expected to create over 200 new jobs and is scheduled for completion in early 2023.

Oreana Group managing director and co-founder Tony Sass said Oreana Property were focused on delivering infrastructure that met specific community needs.

“Kalkallo Town Centre will be an important civic asset for the community in this major growth area and will encourage people to come together and interact in a tailored, community hub environment,” he said.

“We’re looking forward to working with FOURSQ Construction to deliver this commercial development and ultimately help shape a vibrant, well-equipped community.”

Mr Sass said leasing had been strong to date with precommitments in place for more than 90 per cent of available space.

The development site adjoins the Gilgai Plains Primary School and Kalkallo Interim Preschool, and will service the growing number of residents in the surrounding Cloverton residential estate.

FOURSQ construction director Brendan Canavan said his team had a strong history in delivering retail projects across Victoria.

“This will be our first build with Oreana Property and our largest retail project to date, so it marks a really important milestone,” he said.

“We are excited to embark on this new relationship with Oreana and deliver this vital infrastructure for the local community.”
