A BIG day for Donnybrook saw the first sod turned for a new $800 million community, which will continue to grow the town by providing more than 3700 jobs over the construction’s span.
The construction of Acclaim will continue to build on the multiple housing estates which are calling Donnybrook home, which will help grow the town 10-fold in just 10 years.
Once home to 2100 people just five years ago, it is now estimated that the town will have 25,000 people by 2031, with young families and first-home buyers driving the population boost.
The new Acclaim community will deliver 1080 new homes, a prep-to-Year 12 government school, a shopping village, community centre, sporting reserve, playgrounds and open spaces, as well as shared paths for cyclists and walkers.
Bild Group has been appointed as the civil contractor to deliver the first stage, which will eventually include a new road network and intersection upgrades which will improve traffic flow and safety.

Attended by Member for Yan Yean Lauren Kathage and City of Whittlesea councillor Christine Stow, the community marked its launch in style on Thursday morning.
Head of Development – Communities at YourLand Developments Andrew Jones said the sod turn was a significant moment.
“This is a significant milestone for Acclaim and for Donnybrook. Construction starting means we can now deliver the infrastructure that underpins a well-functioning community, from new roads and intersections through to essential services that benefit both future residents and the broader area,” he said.
“This project reflects our commitment to unlocking much-needed housing supply while delivering the infrastructure required to support long-term growth in Donnybrook.”
Project capital partner NTT Urban Development Australia was also an attendee, with Director Hideaki Matsuo saying this project will accelerate the Donnybrook community.
“Acclaim reflects our focus on backing well-planned communities that deliver long-term value for residents and the broader public. We are pleased to partner with YourLand to help bring this new community in Donnybrook to life,” he said.
Ms Kathage said new communities were always welcomed in a growing town like Donnybrook.
“Projects like Acclaim are exactly what growing communities like Donnybrook need. This development will deliver new homes while also investing in the roads and infrastructure that make neighbourhoods work,” she said.
“By working closely with developers and councils, we are helping to ensure new communities are well planned, well connected and supported from day one.”
