WALLAN’S Jake Carlisle has found himself part of an investigation after he jumped the fence and allegedly approached spectators during the Riddell District Football Netball League first semi-final against Kyneton.
During the first quarter, while another player was having a shot at goal, former Essendon and St Kilda AFL player Carlisle jumped the fence behind the goals to approach a young man.
Match vision shows Carlisle jumping the fence, but doesn’t indicate whether he struck another individual.
Higher-ups at the Wallan Football Club have not been willing to comment on the matter.
The RDFNL was made aware of the incident, and it has been referred to the Match Review Panel, which is set to hand down its decision tonight.
The league will not be making any additional comments until the matter has been finalised by either the MRP or the Independent Tribunal.
Carlisle rejoined Wallan after another incident involving his own teammate occurred in Moama at the start of the 2026 season.
He joined Moama in October 2025 to co-coach the team before allegedly striking a teammate in the middle of the match.
Onlookers believe that what was being said by the crowd behind the goals wasn’t appropriate, including alleged racial slurs.
At this stage, Carlisle will learn his fate tonight at the MRP. There is no confirmation at this stage whether there is a police investigation into the incident.
Wallan is set to play Riddell for a spot in the RDFNL grand final after its miracle win against the Tigers, with Carlisle playing a major role in the Magpies’ last-quarter stunner from 34 points down.
