The Wallan Panthers mens team has overcome it’s six game losing streak with a great win over the Southern Peninsula Sharks.
Dominance in the first and third periods were the controllers for the Panthers who look to rise back towards the top of the ladder.
Luke Cairns dominated around the perimeter with seven three pointers and was probably best for the Panthers in their 85-90 win.
Within the last three weeks the men’s team have travelled 1932 kms between Mildura, Warrnambool and Southern Penisula, but will now enjoy four straight games at home.
For the women, it was a huge loss against a lower placed Coburg side away from home.
After matching the pace in the first, the Panthers couldn’t keep up for the rest of the game losing each remaining period of the game by at least 10 points.
Carley Cranston was solid with 22 points including five three pointers, but it wasn’t near enough to bring the Panthers back as they went down 119-78.
They continue to sit third on the ladder and take on RMIT University next week away, and the men’s team will try to get revenge over Mildura who they faced a couple of fixtures ago.
